I once heard someone say when you have young children at home, it seems like "Long days, but short years." I couldn't agree more with that statement.

I am a working mother of a nearly 6 year old who started Kindergarten this year, and a nearly 3 year old. I am lucky enough to work in the school district my son attends in the technology department so I am right here if he needs anything. I am also going back to school for my Masters in Information Systems online, which is a challenge. I've been with my wonderful husband for 11 years, and married for 7 of those years.

With my kids’ swim team season officially over, I reveal my true motive for timing their meets: access to free "Officials' Refreshments." While I enjoy obstructed views of the swimmers from my poolside perch, I believe the genuine perk of being a timer is chowing down on free munchies during the mid-meet break. In fact, I'll keep my stopwatch dangling around my neck just so I can stride up to the refreshment table and unabashedly nosh on the spread without looking like a freeloader.

Cellphones can be a powerful and an effective tool in communicating to others. Teens know this better than anyone else. For many teens, cellphones are their “lifeline” to their social life. In fact, according to a national survey from CTIA and Harris Interactive,

Nearly half (47%) of US teens say their social life would end or be worsened without their cell phone, and nearly six in 10 (57%) credit their mobile device with improving their life.

It's Saturday and I have declared that today will be different. Sure there are diapers to change and clothes to wash, but I WILL do some things that I want to do. I will spend some time praying...talking to God. I will spend some time with my husdand. My girls and I will do something fun together before the sun goes down.
