Please tell us more about your business and when you started it.
I run GardenWall Publications, a freelance writing and editing firm. I worked full time and part time as a marketing writer, an editor, etc. Then I would come home at night and on the weekends and (try) to submit to magazines, do copywriting and the like. Whenever I got a paycheck from freelancing I thought about the likelihood of doing it "full time" or at least, as my sole job. It's worked out well, but notice I said "worked out". This is hard work, and I'm not sure that I would encourage women to think they can write (and write well) with children underfoot. I still have a sitter, send them to school, and/or trade time with my husband in order to get my work done.
How do you define Hybrid?
Taking bits and pieces of things/ideas/advice that work for me, and using them to put my life together in my own way.
Tell us how your "What’s Next" moment occurred and what did it mean to you.
I didn't like my job. I was bored by doing the same things. I was tired of missing volunteer opportunities in my kids' classrooms during the day and coming home tired at night. I wanted to pursue my kind of writing and write what I wanted to. I looked around the office and decided it was time to make the leap.
The closest time frame that your 'What's Next' moment occurred was?
After subsequent children
What are your biggest challenges?
Time management, discipline.
What are your aspirations?
I aspire to widen out to other kinds of writing other than the ones that pay the bills. For example, I have a novel in progress (lol, who doesn't?)
What are your interests?
The outdoors, volunteer work
What inspires you?
Mexico. It's still an ancient land. So much of it is untouched. I love going there, but it’s expensive, so whenever I don't feel like working, I think of my next trip.

We have "car only" items like toys and stuffies. It helps keep her attention if she's bored.
Thanks!
