Name: Jen Howver
Email Address: jen@VODcommunications.com
Year Founded: 2005
Do you own a business?: Yes
Please tell us more about the business and when you started it (or would like to start it):
I started my business in 2005 in preparation for becoming a mom... (Little did I know it would be another two years before I actually became a mom though!) I provide marketing, copywriting, and social media consulting for clients across the U.S. and in Canada, and I have a background in marketing for the publishing industry.
How many children do you have?: 2
How would you define yourself as a hybrid mom?:
I'm a hybrid mom because I'm rarely focused on one thing at a time! I have two beautiful daughters who have been part of our family for the past two years (after waiting a long time to find them in Ethiopia!). I love to write and help clients with marketing efforts, and I love to play Barbies with my girls and sing along to The Little Mermaid or Annie.
Share one personal or business ambition:
I'd like to be an example for my daughters of what a confident, successful, loving woman looks like.
What is your favorite thing about being a mom?:
Watching my girls learn and grow. I'm constantly amazed by the things they know and say. They absorb so much of what's going on around them, and I'm glad I get to be a part of that.
What one belief, factor or trait would you say has contributed most to your success (either personally or professionally)?:
I owe a lot of my success to my relationships with other people. Most of my clients are either former employers or friends I met through other jobs. I value my friendships and it shows when they enlist me to help them meet their business goals.
Feel free to tell us anything else you'd like... :
I often feel like I'm a little schizophrenic or that I'd make a great juggler in the circus. But I often feel like I'm alone in that since my closest (proximity) friends are not working in addition to being moms. I'm grateful to have found this network and look forward to what I find on the site!
