Starting your own business as a mother can be exciting, and tough. As a mother who started MWG Entertainment, a branded entertainment company two years ago, I understand how challenging of a task it could be. However, there’s a lot of help out there for us and I’d like to contribute to that spirit of support with a few suggestions that were once imparted to me, and a few I learned from experience.

In 2005, I created the very first prototype of SippiGrip. I was becoming frustrated when my 1-year-old son, Jake, would throw his sippy cup to the floor from his high chair, stroller and car seat. I was constantly picking up the cups that were either getting dirty or getting lost. I looked everywhere for something that would fit my needs and there were a few competitors on the market at that point.

When I first told some moms that I was writing an article about the top 5 low-cost franchises, the first thing they all wanted to know was, “What was the most financially successful?” So I did some online research (gotta love google) and was surprised by the sheer volume of information out there on franchises. Where is a mom to begin?

Michelle stumbled upon the idea of a memory blanket when packing up her son's outgrown baby clothing.  She recalls sitting on his bedroom floor reminiscing over each piece of clothing with tears rolling down her checks.  "Each one held a special memory, and I didn't want to pack those memories away," says Michelle.

I have begun the process of starting a business and now I'm stuck. I have my finished prototype, but I'm not sure what to do next. I believe I need to let people use my prototype now.  Is that correct?
