Making Your Business Stand Out

For five years, I’ve wanted to start my own business. It’s not until six months ago that I decided to put my want into motion and make business ownership a reality. What took me so long, you wonder? What were my inhibitions? Concepts of originality and fear.

I’ve had numerous service and product business ideas. But, after research, I learned that my ideas weren’t too original and there were always something similar already on the market. I never pursued the ideas because I wanted my business to be absolutely new and unique. Therefore, I gave up my business ambitions because I never found that truly unique idea.

What I failed to realize however, is that there’s no need to disregard a business concept or be discouraged because an idea already exists. Think about it: How unique is the concept of shampoo? Yet, there are thousands of brands available and many more companies being built around new shampoo concepts. Personally, I’ll try any shampoo if the brand appeals and communicates their points of difference. With this realization, I embarked upon my business journey with new perspective, released all inhibitions and am pursuing my entrepreneurial passion.

Constantly, I ask myself, “What makes my product different from competitors?” In answering this question, I researched competition and the market, talked to consumers and am crafting the points of difference that I want to communicate for my business, TummyTankz.

A TummyTankz Point of Difference: Most comfortable and versatile wardrobe accessory that solves key wardrobe challenges for pregnancy, nursing or everyday style.

What do you think? Does this point of difference resonate well?

Good luck in your new venture! You've got the right attitude to succeed!

Your point of difference sounds intriguing to me, and prompts me to ask, "what are the top three wardrobe challenges" that your product solves? Perhaps you should give an example, or make a comparison that a potential customer could relate to, such as TummyTankz are to pregnant women as a swaddling blanket is to a baby, or whatever statement makes sense for your product. I wish you great success!
