‘Skinny Bitch” Tells Us What To Eat and Why

If you believe all the hype about the dangers of certain foods, and chances are the hype is right, you will find the book Skinny Bitch extremely informative. Skinny Bitch is a well-researched essay on the dangers of the all the foods we were raised eating and that our people have been chowing down for centuries.

Freedman and Barnouin methodically and categorically investigate each food, what that food does to our bodies, why it can be bad for us and ultimately how the food can pack on the pounds. It seems that every food is addressed in the book. With the sleuthing skill of the CSI investigative team, the dangers of sugar, sugar substitutes, dairy, meat, chicken and fish are exposed. In the authors’ evaluation these foods are poisons and to be avoided.

Thankfully, the authors are quick to point out solutions and healthy substitutes through their research for the reader. The authors are also sensitive to the fact that such a drastic change in diet can be difficult and offer some transition tips.  One such tip is to eliminate one thing at a time, which is good advice considering that to believe everything in this book is to never eat anything you’ve always eaten ever again.  Really!

Although some of the language is jarring and I suspect not often needed in the book (ie. the title!), I could be mistaken.  The danger of certain foods is a passionate topic for the authors and the foul language is clearly used as an attention-getting tool.

Even though I am no expert on dietary science, I suspect that much of what the authors present in the book is true and that a drastic change in diets for all Americans is on the horizon. (I am seriously considering Rice Dream.) If such a change in diet takes place, Freedman and Barnouin are owed a debt of gratitude.

Has anyone checked out the content in the book Skinny Bitch or tried Rice Dream for that matter?  Share your thoughts!
