Contrary to popular belief amongst my family, no amount of mom guilt will stifle my need for words of affirmation and acts of service. They both scream that I am loved and that's worth wrestling with a little mom guilt from time to time.
I think I'll post the following MEMO (Mom Encourages More Obligation) on the fridge, even though I'm the only one who seems to know where the fridge is when mealtime rolls around. I considered putting it somewhere more familiar, like on the TV, but I think the dust would destickify the tape. I could track down a dust cloth, dust said television, hunt down some tape and keep my fingers crossed that my two year old doesn't make the memo her new plaything, but I think I'm all stocked up on pointless tasks.
Here at Casa de Chaos, we accept all sorts of payments for services rendered. Victoria Jenkins has been an at home mother for over a decade, and thankfully, there's no end to the madness in sight! She enjoys writing during the calm of the storm that is motherhood, and is looking forward to submitting a poetry manuscript in the upcoming months. She is co-author of Let the Son Shine, a blog of weekday devotionals for Christian women. She and her husband live in North Carolina, where they enjoy the life chaotic with their three children. | So glad you came out and said it girl! I think we all feel like the "housebot," or "wifebot" at some point or another. I'm so proud of you for this great accomplishment of being a published author! |

Mom guilt. Who the heck came up with that term? I bet I know why we don't know who coined that phrase. I imagine she must have been too riddled with the stuff to take the credit. After all, nothing says mom guilt like not accepting praise for a job well done.
