No Shirt, No Shoes, But Tons of Service | Print |  Email

istock_000004664206xsmall.jpgMom guilt. Who the heck came up with that term? I bet I know why we don't know who coined that phrase. I imagine she must have been too riddled with the stuff to take the credit. After all, nothing says mom guilt like not accepting praise for a job well done.

Contrary to popular belief amongst my family, no amount of mom guilt will stifle my need for words of affirmation and acts of service. They both scream that I am loved and that's worth wrestling with a little mom guilt from time to time.

I think I'll post the following MEMO (Mom Encourages More Obligation) on the fridge, even though I'm the only one who seems to know where the fridge is when mealtime rolls around. I considered putting it somewhere more familiar, like on the TV, but I think the dust would destickify the tape. I could track down a dust cloth, dust said television, hunt down some tape and keep my fingers crossed that my two year old doesn't make the memo her new plaything, but I think I'm all stocked up on pointless tasks.
So, fridge it is.

Here at Casa de Chaos, we accept all sorts of payments for services rendered.

A "Thank you, Mom/Wife/Housebot" is a great start. Add a little growth in the responsibility department and now we're talking!

A gratuitous tip is always welcome, especially when it comes in the form of obedience and respect.

You can even pay in monthly installments of Mom's Nights Out if the day to day payments aren't quite your speed.

We gladly accept folded laundry and washed dishes as currency and we ask that you give warm, soft hugs and kisses in lieu of cold, hard cash.

Thanks for your cooperation,
The Management

It's nice to know that I'm not the only "housebot!"

So glad you came out and said it girl! I think we all feel like the "housebot," or "wifebot" at some point or another. I'm so proud of you for this great accomplishment of being a published author!
