Meet Jill Chukas and Crafty Baby |

As we find with many of our successful mom-owned businesses, owner Jill Chuckas coupled her passion for sewing (can you believe she started at age 4 under the guidance of ‘Nana K’!) and her desire to create fun and functional baby products for her first born into a booming business.
What started out as a little side job selling at local church and school craft shows, has now mushroomed into participation in major retail shows throughout the Northeast and brisk on-line sales. “I never thought my little ideas would get so big!” she remarks.
Although Jill finds her business can be all encompassing, she tries to take the time to incorporate her 3 kids into small aspects of the business whenever possible. “They love taking out pins and picking out and organizing fabrics,” she says. “Crafty Baby is a true, home-based, family company.
Jill sites one of her biggest business obstacles as the need to wear so many different hats. “I am creator, designer, marketer, sales person, advertising exec., etc. It's often hard to do so many things!” Jill jokes. But, like many of our determined moms, she manages to get the job done and has experienced the thrill of seeing her hard work pay off.
