Hot Toddies is the inspiration of mom owner and founder Lori Johnson. Tired of the standard gender neutral car seats on the market (in other words, the “oh, he’s so cute” followed by the “actually it’s a girl” conversation!) Lori set out to create a car seat cover that utilized fun fabrics to create style and comfort. Whether updating an older car seat (hide spills from baby #1!) or personalizing a new one, her covers are a clever way to make a ho-hum car seat downright fun.

Lori’s biggest success to date has been securing Babystyle.com as a customer. It was the number one location she had in mind when starting her business and it fits very well into their line of maternity and children’s gear. “I thought I was going to receive a cease and assist letter from the buyer,” jokes Lori, but she was receptive to my emails titled “the squeaky wheel.” Perseverance and humor are essential, right Ladies?

As are daily pep talks.   “I always have to remind myself that I believe in myself and the product I created and the peaks and valleys are a part of life now that I have started a business,”  says Lori.
