Getting friends together for an intimate gathering of great food, wine
and conversation has been one of the highlights of my life. It should
be an enjoyable time for everyone, including me (the hostess, chef and
cleanup crew) but that wasn’t always the case. In the past I’d bring
out the latest issues of my favorite cooking magazines, shop for
countless ingredients and proceed to spend the entire day in the
kitchen.
When you think about the legacies Walt Disney left us, do talking mice
and a multigizillion dollar company come to mind? Actually, those are
only the products of his prodigious and rich creativity — dig deeper
and you start to realize one of the most intriguing heritages Disney
left was his processes.
Think of this like those old chemistry movies we used to watch in
school. You had all of those atoms floating around and when two
collided -- bam! A chemical reaction. Maybe something new was created.
Maybe something exploded. Or maybe it all fizzled out and nothing
happened.
From under countless leaves and a pile of fresh potting soil I saw
worn black converse tennis shoes. That is, until they turned and
started running quickly away from Owen and I sprawled on the floor.
With little more than a flick of my wrist, we were Omni bound, and I
had to call Jen to share the latest developments. And see if I was
breaking my non-disclosure agreement about Clamming. I needed to
figure out this mystery, but I needed a paycheck more. I’d only share
as much as I needed to with Nicole.
I considered hailing a cab and directing it to the Omni. What’s one meaningless ride further into the city for a dead end? A ploy to get my heart and mind racing about the possibility of meeting the only man in my life besides my son?

 I started making jewelry 10 years ago, and earned a Graduate Gemologist
degree from the Gemological Institute of America. I sold my creations
off and on at craft fairs and it was really just a hobby while I worked
in the accounting field. When my third child was born stillborn two
weeks before his due date, my world shattered and my life was forever
changed.
