How do you define Hybrid?
Hybrid mom is the mom of TODAY wearing 100 hats, "trying" to give 100% in every area, failing miserably in some areas and flourishing in others - BUT we are TRYING TO DO OUR BEST!
Tell us how your "What's Next" moment occurred and what did it mean to you ...
After finishing grad school, working, and getting married, my husband and I both agreed that I would be home for the first few years of our kids lives. In the meantime (as crazy busy as I was) I felt the desire to be doing something with the few brain cells I had left so I started LITTLE SHOWOFFS.
My husband is a screen printer, so it fit and he was very supportive and helpful! I now run most of my business myself, but my kids are now older and I am struggling with leaving my home based office and going back to full-time to work to benefit from salary and benefits as opposed to the ups and downs of business and paying for insurance out of pocket.
I love having my own hours, being my own boss, working in the kids' classes, taking walks when I want, but I miss feeling appreciated, feeling accomplished, and being around the electricity of working on a college campus (I was a college counselor and my Masters is in College Student Affairs/Higher Ed Admin).
The closest time frame that your 'What's Next' moment occurred was
When my youngest went into kindergarten.
What are your biggest challenges?
Balancing family, business, finances and trying to do ALL of them well.
What are your aspirations?
To be a happy wife, mom, and person
What are your interests?
I was a runner as a little girl, high school and college - now I don't do it AT ALL! Being from Kenya orginally, and having my dad's side of the family still there, my interest in world affairs as well as the children in Africa afflicted by AIDS, hunger, and becoming orphans.
What inspires you?
Those who come from NOTHING, work hard, without complaints, and succeed at whatever their goal is.
