Moms on Twitter Force Motrin to Remove Ad | Print |  Email

twitter1108.jpgIf you don't yet know about Twitter, you're definitely being left behind technologically and you're missing out on the power of moms banding together for a common cause on the Net.

This weekend, moms on Twitter
lashed out against Motrin because they recently launched a viral campaign aimed at moms that, let's just say, didn't go over too well. The Motrin ad condescendingly talked about moms who wear their babies in slings because it's "fashionable" and because they are trying to look the part of an "official mom" while bearing the pain of heavy children and uncomfortable slings. As would be expected, moms took offense and made their opinions known loud and clear by tweeting their outrage and subsequently blogging and vlogging about it. The result: the ad has been taken down from the Motrin site and the VP of Marketing who is responsible for the ad started the PR clean-up.

For one weekend, thousands of moms came together on Twitter and on their blogs to protest advertising that belittled them as mothers. It was a sight to see, to be sure. Did you get in on the action? Leave a link to your post or your tweet. And, if you're not on Twitter, what are you waiting for?
